To coach, assist, or volunteer with St. William of York Athletics, all adults must complete the Catholic Diocese of Arlington’s Safe Environment compliance process before stepping onto the field or court.

Step 1: Complete the Online Background Application

1. Visit the Arlington Diocese Background Checks Page and complete the online application. 

2. Once submitted, your background check information will be compiled into electronic forms sent via DocuSign. 

3. Check your email, review the forms, and sign them electronically: 

   • Criminal Background Check Authorization Waiver  

   • Questionnaire  

   • Acknowledgement of Policy  

   • Acknowledgement of Code of Conduct  

Note: If you notice an error in your DocuSign email, click "Decline". You can then log back into your background check portal to update your information, and a new DocuSign link will be generated. 

Step 2: Sign the CPS Form in Person

• The CPS Central Registry Form cannot be signed electronically. 

• After your online paperwork is reviewed and approved, our Child Protection Liaison will contact you via phone or email to schedule a quick in-person meeting to sign this document. 

Step 3: Attend VIRTUS Training

• Prerequisite: You must complete the background check application before registering for training. 

• Registration: Once your paperwork is approved, you will receive an official email from the Diocese with instructions to register. 

• Requirement: Training is a one-time, in-person requirement. You have a 45-day grace period from your start date to complete it. 

• Already VIRTUS Trained? If you previously attended VIRTUS training in another diocese, contact VIRTUS directly to transfer your records to St. William of York in the Arlington Diocese:
