At St. William of York Catholic School, our athletic program provides students with opportunities to build character, develop teamwork, practice sportsmanship, and grow physical skills—all while socializing in a safe, wholesome environment with their peers after school.
Whether your child is trying a sport for the first time or competing at an advanced level, our program emphasizes effort, discipline, camaraderie, and respect both on and off the field.
Our Athletic Programs
We field competitive and developmental teams across multiple sports seasons throughout the school year:
Basketball (Boys & Girls): Winter season focusing on fundamental skills, team strategy, and league play.
Cheerleading: Returning for the first time since 2020! Winter season building spirit, leadership, rhythm, and teamwork while supporting our Panther teams through pep rallies and basketball games all capped by an end of season competition at the Cardinal Winter Blast Cheerleading Competition at Bishop Ireton.
Girls Volleyball: Fall season emphasizing team communication, serving, rotation play, and sportsmanship.
Boys Flag Football: Spring league built around agility, play execution, non-contact competition, and athletic development.
Field Hockey: Fall-Interscholastic and Spring-Intramural team that is the Diocese of Arlington's third Middle School field hockey program. Emphasis is on core mechanics, stick skills, spatial awareness, and game fundamentals.
Boys & Girls Soccer: Offered based on student interest and seasonal registration numbers; emphasizes footwork, positioning, and teamwork when active.
